Gratitude

At the end of last year I couldn’t help but think 2010 was the best year of my life.  Goals were accomplished that I never thought possible, and the trajectory of my life shifted drastically. Now as we near the end of 2011, I’m amazed to realize that this year has been even better. We’ll do a full recap of everything that’s happened next month, but at the moment I just wanted to write a few very brief thoughts on gratitude. Having the privilege to the things I do really has very little to do with me; it’s everyone that surrounds me that makes this life possible. Life is not lived in a vacuum.  The things you do have a

Advice for New Bloggers…

I have a confession: I haven’t opened up my Google Reader in close to a year and a half. Yeah, I’m one of those bloggers. You know the one that writes a blog, but rarely reads them.  Actually, most of the more successful bloggers I know fall into this category, but that’s another topic for another time. Since I recently picked up a Kindle Fire, I wanted a way to read interesting content on the go.  I figured what better way than to add a few of the blogs I do read into an RSS app, and then check it out whenever I have a few minutes. Upon opening up my RSS reader, I was shocked at what I found.

Kindle Fire Review and Ipad Comparisons

While I was living in Bali there was one thing that set me apart from pretty much every other person I was hanging around with: I didn’t have a Kindle. It took all of about a week before I realized this needed to change, and so I set out to figure out which one would be right for me.  As it turns out, the Kindle Fire was announced at pretty much the same time, and for $199, how could I turn it down? Honestly, the real reason I bought it is to read books.  I’ve been reading like crazy lately, and my computer screen just isn’t cutting it. So rather than buy a Kindle right away, and despite the fact

Seven Exercises to Do From Your Airplane Seat

Photo Credit: Conor Lawless Sean’s Note: This is a guest post from Maria of Fitness Reloaded.  After a few very long flights coming back from Bali a couple weeks ago, I realized just how useful these tips are for people who travel a lot.  Make sure to check out Maria’s site for more fitness and exercise advice. Do you enjoy flying? Of course you do! Especially if flying takes you to your vacation hotspot, or back to see your loved ones! Just thinking about it fills you with energy and makes you want to jump around from happiness! Too bad you cannot do that in the airplane. You have to wait until your flight lands. Hopefully, you won’t have turned into

The Era of Magic Makers

Magic Makers. Every. Singe. One. Of. Them. Have ever known someone who could make magic happen? I’m not talking about rabbits and hats here, but rather the type of person who seems to make the impossible happen on a regular basis. I used to know maybe one or two, but these days it seems like half the people around me are magic makers. Thats the beauty of the time we live in, it’s easier than ever to make incredible things happen. The combination of technology and increased connectivity make it so that no one is untouchable.  If you want to get Jay-Z’s attention, you can do it. So what exactly does a magic maker look like? Rather than tell you,

How to Improve Any Aspect of Your Life in 48 Hours

This is a post that I’ve thought about writing for months, and I think it has the potential to be the most beneficial post I’ve ever written at Location 180. That said, I expect it to be useful to about 10% of you, and for those 10% it will be life changing. As for the other 90%, there are two things that might happen: You’ll dismiss everything I say completely, think I’m a quack and move on You’ll find some credence in what I discuss, but do nothing actionable about it (which has the same end result as the previous bullet point) It’s taken me a long time to actually sit down and write this post, but I’ve realized lately

Life Is Simply About Getting People to Say Yes

Well after 2 months in Bali, I’m back in the U.S. and have definitely felt the pains of re-acclimation. Whether it was the overnight layover in SFO or my body not being able to keep up with the changes, it’s been slow going this weekend. That said, I’m doing much better now and ready to get back to it.  Expect much more to come soon It’s as simple as that, and the title says it all: Life is simply about getting people to say yes. Will you marry me? Can I have a job? Subscribe to my blog? Buy my product? Whether it’s the biggest questions you ever ask, or the littlest things that you may or may not overtly ask

Why America Hates Anything But the Status Quo

This morning I woke up to a nice surprise, an email from about five people telling me that an article I wrote awhile back had hit the front page of Yahoo! Easily the most visible article I’ve ever written, I was pretty stoked.  Over 600 comments, 900 Facebook likes, over 100 tweets.  Yep, I’d hit the big time.  All with the exception of one small detail: there was no link back to any of my sites. All of those thousands of eyes that were reading my writing had no idea how to find the person who wrote it – well except for the 217 people who have Googled “sean ogle” today. The article was called “6 Businesses You Can Run

The Art of Getting Lost

Most of us go through our entire lives in a constant state of familiarity. These days even when you’re someplace you’ve never been before, it can seem very familiar. A few months back I drove halfway across the country, and never once did I get lost.  I had a gps who was affectionately referred to as “Jasmine” and she made sure that no matter where I went, I’d arrive at my destination. I was in a car that was familiar, with people who were familiar, in a country with rules and traditions that were decidedly familiar. Anymore, it’s actually pretty hard to get lost. You almost have to try in order to make it happen.  More importantly, most people associate the experience
