In the time it took you to get to this about page, you’ve probably figured out this site is about two things:

  1. Building a business you can run from anywhere on Earth
  2. Living a life worth writing about

So if you plan on sticking around, I’d hope that one of those two things gets you excited.

But we can talk more about that later, right now let’s talk about me and how Location 180 came to be

Who is Sean Ogle?

In order to understand who I am and what I do you need to understand where I came from.

I graduated from Oregon State University in 2007 with a degree in finance.  I had a fantastic time at my 4 years in school, but I can’t help but feel it didn’t prepare me with the real life, tangible skills that I needed to be successful after graduation.

This led me to a job as a financial analyst that I quickly found wasn’t for me.  Working 50 hours a week, wearing a suit and tie, and not having any of the flexibility to do the things that excited me grew old really quickly.

Sound familiar?

I started Location 180 in May 2009 to hold myself accountable for doing all of the cool stuff in life I’ve always talked about. I published my bucket list, and have been working through it ever since.  So far I’m doing pretty good, I’ve lived on a tropical island, built a business, ran a marathon, and climbed a mountain, among other things.

Somehow I’ve gotta support the cool lifestyle though.  In January 2010 I headed to Thailand to work with the Tropical MBA which has evolved into a full time business doing SEO, consulting, affiliate marketing, and anything else that seems interesting to me.

Once I moved to Thailand it didn’t take long before I realized just how attainable my dream lifestyle was, merely by utilizing the power of the internet.  Within a few months I was making enough to support my lifestyle and these days I have the flexibility to pretty much do whatever I want, whenever I want.

Location 180 and it’s sister site Location Rebel are all about helping you to achieve the same lifestyle.  One where you can do more of the stuff that makes you happy, and help others in the process.

This sound good to you? Great.  Here’s what you should do next, head over to the Start Here page to get a feel for some of the most relevant posts on Location 180.  Have even more time? Then hit up the archives, and really get your hands dirty.

Life is whatever you make it.  I’ve chosen to make mine all about new experiences and having a hell of a lot of fun.  I hope you decide to join me.

Other Projects

I’m a huge advocate of building businesses around the things you like to do.  Here are some of my other projects and sites I’m working on:

  • Breaking Eighty – I love to play golf.  This is my newest site that’s devoted to that hobby
  • Location Rebel – I LOVE helping people figure out how to make this lifestyle work for themselves.  This is my flagship course and private community that has helped dozens of people quit their jobs and build successful online businesses over the past year.

I’m in awe! Once upon a time a long time ago I did many wild & wonderful things – whitewater kayaking, mountaineering, long-distance backpacking, exploring the gritty dark side of urban fun…then slowly settled down….into the wild & crazy depths of deep relationship, intimacy, vulnerability, and the dance between love & power.

Keep going! Like that old song says, “Someday never comes…”

And, Sean, thank you.

Rock on, Sean. So great to meet you in person in Portland, and to get a sneak peak at your geographically independent worklife style. Love the views from the top! Whole new way to define success. We’ll get you fire hula hooping next time you come down to Ojai to visit! xoxo

Sick video dude! Looks like you got fitter since moving out to Thailand too!

You’re right, anybody can live the dream if they’re willing to put it all on the line and do something unconventional. Your family and friends might not understand what you’re doing, you might even be told you’re wasting your time but look at your now man!

Keep inspiring brother!

Sean, I’m finally just getting around to really exploring your new site. It looks truly fantastic! I love what you’ve done with the About page. It’s personal, engaging and screams, “I’m Sean Ogle, and my life rocks!”

I’d say hope you’re doing well, but by the looks of it, you totally are! 🙂
