"Now I am not saying you should just hop on a plane with nothing but the clothes on your back (although I am sure there are many who have had fantastic trips doing this)."
This guy did.

This sounds like the perfect way to start a proper adventure. Maybe a bit more practice would be to pack only what you can fit in carry on luggage. (A single small day packer backpack) If I'm correct my bqq Boa 3M would be just the right size.

Take along a laptop (it's a laptop backpack after all) and a few essentials you can't buy along the way and just go out there.

I'm planing to do something like this, but with the biggest difference being riding a motorcycle and only taking along what I can pack in a topcase. Let's see how many months of "Europe" I can survive before funds run out.

Can you ride to Tibet over land? Now that's a nice adventure :)
