There is a restaurant nestled in the heart of NW 21st street that seems to rarely go noticed by many people in the neighborhood. Lucy’s Table is a restaurant that has been around for quite some time, yet it took me almost two years of living in the neighborhood to actually go in and check it out. My only regret is not going in sooner.
Social Hour, as they call it there, consists of a wide variety of items that I think would be best categorized as “American gourmet”. For $4 you can get their pomegranate glazed baby back ribs. Now one might expect $4 ribs at a place like this to be paltry and severely undersized. I was shocked when I got a plate piled high with some of the most delicious ribs I had ever tasted. This was one of the few times I have actually ordered a second serving of an item at happy hour. They were that good.
As a compliment to their ribs for $3 you can get a good old fashioned American corn dog (or corn dog bites rather), served with house made ketchup. Or if pasta is more your thing, the goat cheese ravioli for $3 is equally delicious. I dont care if ribs, corn dogs and ravioli is the most random pairing of food of all time. Each is incredible, and I have no problem making a meal out of it!
Along with their excellent food specials, you can get a glass of house red or white for $4, a few cocktails for $4, and select beer for 3 bucks. If you need another reason to check out Lucy’s Table, they have some limited outdoor seating (any spot outdoors on 21st is a great place to be in the summer), and were also voted one of the most romantic restaurants in town by Portland City Search. Wow, many of my happy hour reviews seem to be more “date” oriented don’t they? Look for something more manly next week!
Social Hour at Lucy’s Table is offered Monday-Friday from 5:00-6:30pm, and they are located on NW 21st and Irving.
