All week I had plans to launch a big update to one section of the website. It was supposed to go up Thursday morning, but life got in the way, and it just wasn’t quite complete. Alright, thats cool, it’ll go up Friday. Well after a few hours of work last night, I realized it just wasn’t going to be where I would like it to be in time for a Friday release, so it is getting pushed back til next week.
With that said, I felt really guilty about not getting a second post up this week. I think that is when you realize how serious you are about your blog: when you are genuinely stressed and bothered about not making your deadlines. I view this as a good thing. Along with this is one other realization I have had. I don’t want to put out crap. I could have very easily posted my update today, or even yesterday for that matter, but it would be hard to live with myself knowing I wasn’t putting out my best work. Quality over quantity will (almost) always win out! So despite not preparing what I had hoped, I realized it is still about time for a monthly update!
September marked the completion of Climbing a Mountain, one of the more exciting things I have done on my list. With that came the first ever video post at Location180. I was pretty excited about how it turned out, so if you haven’t seen it, be sure to go take a look.
Along with climbing a mountain, I also completed #32 on the list for the third time. Yes this was the third year in a row I have gone to see Dave Matthews at the Gorge Amphitheater in George, Washington (yes that really is the name of town). Unfortunately third time was not the charm as we experienced rain for the first time. Although we did end up with some pretty killer seats on both Friday and Saturday nights.
If You Were to Live Abroad… ended up being one the most commented posts of all time. As I continue to struggle with where, when, if I should travel, I saw encouragement in these comments unlike anything I have ever seen. If you really want to see a supportive community, as well as some great views on how you should live your life, go read the comments in this post (much more valuable than the writing I did).
I also did the first ever Best of Location180. I realized there wasn’t a good place to go and see some of the most popular posts, and I also wanted to give you some of the statistics for the site that you may not have seen. At the bottom of the post, I mentioned Ryan Stephens Top Ten Gen Y Blog contest. Well, for those who haven’t seen the results I was NUMBER ONE!!! Ok, in all honesty it was a three way tie for first, but hey, I was pretty excited about that. So thanks for all who supported!
Finally, perhaps the biggest thing that happened in September was the Launch of Location Rebel. As a joint venture between JD Bentley of Wage Slave Rebel and I (with some others coming on board soon), Location Rebel is looking to become the definitive community source for people interested in the Location Independent lifestyle or lifestyle design in general. We have seen a tremendous response so far, so if you haven’t checked it out, I highly recommend doing so now!
To finish out the month Ryan Martin submitted his final Quit your Job, Move to Hawaii guest post. As the series has been one of the more popular topics on the site, I am really excited for Ryan to do some more guest posts when he begins his world adventure in January of next year.
Alright, while this update may not have been the BIG update that I wanted to get up, it will give me time to make sure that everything is exactly how I want it to be. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

It may not have been everything you wanted and more, but it’s still a solid update. You’re getting a lot done, and it’s important not to stress too much over the details.
It is good that you’re keeping yourself on track with blog deadlines, though. I’ve been the same way…stressed like mad if I don’t get my two high-quality posts done per week (like you, I try to put a big emphasis on high-quality!) and most of my real life friends don’t get it (or know what a blog is in some cases…ah, Buenos Aires
)
I’m loving Location Rebel by the way: you and J.D. did this community a solid by setting it up, and I think the value we’re all getting by being able to easily exchange ideas will more than make up for any tardy updates on your part!
Have a great weekend!
Agreed. Good solid update. Likewise, I’ve been overwhelmed and feeling the pressure (and need) to keep up with my 2 scheduled killer posts each week (we’re still working on getting killer content in less writing time over at Find Yourself Lost, but it’s on it’s way).
This post is a great chunk of encouragement to keep with it, thanks! Also, agreed that Location Rebel is awesome and I must jot in more time to play over there!
Keep it up, man. (That was a bro moment for you. I felt it was appropriate.)
That was a huge month for you. Some great accomplishments.
Congrats…I am excited about the launch

Sean you are doing awesome man, keep it up
I’d love to see another video post like the one where you climbed the mountain, that was wicked!
Have a great weekend!

You had a great month man! Lots of good stuff went down so you are making awesome progress. Keep it up. Don’t worry about this update not being the BIG one, I have a feeling your almost there
Thanks for all of the positive thoughts everyone! My goal is to have each update be even more interesting than the previous one, so after September, I have my work cut out for me!
