A Collection of Lifestyle Design Haiku’s

In the spirit of writing about some different things this week, I decided to go REALLY different today.  Remember back in high school when you actually had to explore various different types of writing?  Creative writing, business writing, resumes, and of course, poetry.  Well it has probably been a good five years since I have even thought of the word Haiku, but I have always found them to be very intriguing in their simplicity.  You can say a lot in 17 syllables.

For the past week or so I have been writing random poems as they have come into my head, and today is the day I am going to share them with you.  I would definitely appreciate some feedback on this one.  Want to see similar posts?  Hate the idea?  Tell me about it!  Even better, come up with one of your own and share it in the comments!

So without further ado:

Doing what you want

Whenever you feel like it

Is really hard work

Travel and business

The lifestyle of my choice

Look to the future

A question is posed

Anything is possible

What route do you choose?

Biggest Decision

Of your life until right now

Make it a good one

Timothy Ferris

Changed the lives of so many

Including my own

Start with a small change

The bigger ones will come soon

Forget past mistakes

The Chris Guillebeau

Does what so many want to

But very few can

Let your readers choose

Where you are going to live

That is Colin Wright

Slow start this morning

In need of motivation

Must come from within

There are huge rewards

If you are willing to work

But the price is great

Jump through hoops no more

I’m done with the suit and tie

Live life on my terms

OMG, I’ve been haiku’d!

Loving this. Tweeted and Stumbled!

Hey Sean – my favorite is the first one. It’s very true. Doing whatever you want, whenever you want to do it is actually tougher than people think. Planning out the expenses and making something affordable can be tough.

I’m far from a poetry fan, but I did enjoy this. Quick, easy to read, and you were able to make a few of them be only 3 lines and incredibly insightful.

Nice work. Like Rich wrote, the first one is my favorite.

Your haikus are much better than mine. Well except for Tyler’s. I am not a jerk. Although I guess I do feel his pain haha.

Thanks for all the comments, I thought it was time a little change of pace with some of the writing. So I appreciate the feedback!

Really really really like this post. A Haiku is so simple, yet so deep at the same time.

I once had a best friend named Sean
Who hated working all day long
But it still came as a shock
That he was bound for Bangkok
And spent his days writing poems and songs

I bid you adieu.
