I have no idea how it’s been over a year since I last left the country, but alas, that is the case.  The last month has been absolutely insane. I’ve shot a tv pilot, driven desolate freeways, ran into major technical problems, and am now leaving for Bali, Indonesia where I’ll spend the next month hanging out with the Tropical MBA crew before doing some backpacking around the region. I’ve been itching for an adventure, and I think this trip is definitely going to provide that. However, this isn’t your typical adventure where you head off into the jungle and aren’t seen for weeks on end.  No, I’ve decided I’d like to do things a little bit different. The Biggest

I’m the first person to admit that my life is pretty freaking awesome.  I’ve worked hard to get to the point where I’m at, and with a few lucky breaks, I’m able to work when I want from anywhere on the planet practically. Living the dream? Some might say that. However, the dream can be a pretty lonely place at times. I have an on going conflicting battle with myself about what I want to do, versus what I feel I responsibly should do. That’s not very clear, so let me see if I can clarify. Next week I’ll be leaving on a trip to Bali to hang out with Dan and the Tropical MBA crew, while also traveling with

If you’ve been hanging out at Location 180 for awhile (or if you watched Tueday’s video) you know that one of the rules I have in my life is this: Play First, Work Second. Generally speaking I’ve found it to be a good rule, and because of it, I’ve done some pretty cool things. There are times however, when rules need to be broken, and recently I did just that. This past week I’d road-tripped down to Colorado for a wedding in Vail.  The trip was supposed to be two-fold, a week in Colorado, followed by another few days at Yellowstone National Park.  I’ve always wanted to go and figured this would be a great opportunity to do so. After

If you’re reading via feedreader, make sure you click through to see the video! If you know me well, then you know that I have a tendency to lean towards champagne tastes. I’m fascinated with luxury and expensive things. I could tell you where the best suites are in Vegas, all about luxurious island resorts the world over, and I can tell the difference between a Panerai and a Breitling. That said, when it comes to traveling, I’m one of the biggest cheap asses you’ll ever meet. Perhaps this is due to my finance background, spillover from being frugal after leaving my job, or perhaps I just like to annoy my travel companions. Regardless, if there’s an opportunity to save

If you’re checking this out on a feed reader, make sure you click through to see the video! If you’ve been a reader here at Location 180 for awhile you know that I initially began my lifestyle business by learning some of the principles of SEO.  I started with the TropicalMBA crew and then parlayed that into my own endeavors. Well aside from being able to create a livable income for myself through SEO, I’ve also had a few other interesting opportunities come my way via the trade. One of the more interesting of which happened recently and involved me flying out to Las Vegas and Southern Utah to film a tv pilot. Over time one of the most highly

We all have times in our lives where we get stressed out, start feeling uninspired, or just need a change of pace. It can be really easy to get in a stagnant position, where nothing really seems exciting and you feel as though you’re just going through the motions of routine. In situations like that, sometimes the best thing you can do is go away.  Go someplace else where it’s impossible to follow the same routine. To take that a step farther, I’d say that if you can go someplace you love, you’re going to get even more benefit.  Maybe it’s a relaxing cabin, maybe it’s just taking a hike on your favorite trail, or spending an afternoon hanging out

Nearly two years ago now I received an email from a guy that I’d hardly heard of and had very little online presence.  Essentially it said he was testing out an idea for an internship where he brings someone out to Asia, and pays for basic living expenses in exchange for help building his business. Considering I got this email a few days after quitting my job and I had no clue what was next, it seemed to good to be true.  Fast forward a couple months and I was sitting on a beach in Thailand, drinking ice cold Chang’s with him and his business partner Ian. Over that six month period I quickly learned how to do SEO, internet

What a difference two years makes… This past Sunday marked the two year anniversary of the very first post on Location 180.  To think of everything that has happened since I began this journey, completely blows me away. This past year has easily been the most exciting, fulfilling, and awesome I’ve ever had. However, more importantly, I feel like its just setting the stage for what’s to come.  Bigger businesses, more travel, and inspiring more people to pursue a life that they can get excited about. That said, the goal of this post is two fold.  The first is to give a resounding thank you to YOU.  If it weren’t for the encouragement that I’ve received from this community over the

This may have been the longest posting hiatus I’ve ever had here at Location 180 – but I swear it was for a good reason. If you read my last post, The Longest Car Ride of My Life, you know that a couple friends and I spent this past week down in Austin, Texas for our first SXSW conference. To say it exceeded any and all expectations would be an understatement. You really have no idea what SXSW is like until you can experience it for yourself. Every single day I was surrounded by some of the smartest people around, and found myself continually inspired to do more with my life, and help others in the process. Many (most?) of

“Oh my God, I can’t believe we’re doing this!!” – Jenna upon picking me up at 6am this morning. “Oh. my. God. I can’t believe we’re doing this….” – what I thought to myself upon waking up at 5:55am… And so it begins. We’re currently about an hour into our road trip to the #sxsw conference in Austin, Texas. According to Google maps it is 2,235 miles and 37 hours from Eugene, Oregon where we left, which will in effect make this the longest road trip I’ve ever been on. For better or worse… Why we decided to drive as opposed to fly is a question that I’m not sure I’ll ever fully understand, but I think I thought it
