Hanging out at New Kuta Golf Course in Bali, Indonesia Man how modest do I sound with a headline like that?? The reality is, this is the third post in a series of reflections about the year of 2011, what went well, what didn’t, and what I need to do to move forward in the future. The first post looked at the 10 Coolest Offices I Had in 2011, while the most recent one looked not only at some of the things I could have done better at, but also identified people who already were killing it in the areas that I was lacking. Today we are looking at some areas in my life and business where I found some

If you’re checking this out on a feed reader, make sure you click through to see the video! If you’ve been a reader here at Location 180 for awhile you know that I initially began my lifestyle business by learning some of the principles of SEO.  I started with the TropicalMBA crew and then parlayed that into my own endeavors. Well aside from being able to create a livable income for myself through SEO, I’ve also had a few other interesting opportunities come my way via the trade. One of the more interesting of which happened recently and involved me flying out to Las Vegas and Southern Utah to film a tv pilot. Over time one of the most highly

At the beginning of this year, I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted to achieve in 2011.  I thought hard about what I could focus on that would have the most substantial impact across my life as a whole. I kept coming back to one word: confidence. When you’re confident in what you do, everything becomes easier. Growing up, I was confident in small aspects of my life, but I wouldn’t necessarily say as a whole I was a confident person.  When it came to skills I was good at such as tennis, skiing, or guitar, I could hold my own. Aside from that, I was pretty content to just follow what others were doing, not

See the end of the post for the video of my marathon experience. Or just click on the link. I’ve also gotta give a BIG thank you to Poul Stefansen, because without him initially signing up I never would have done it. It also was great know I wasn’t the only one going through hell! Of all the things on my bucket list, there were two that I felt were going to be close to impossible: Fly in a Virgin Galactic Space Flight (most likely actually impossible) Run a Marathon (apparently not impossible) On New Years Day this year, I foolishly signed up for the Eugene Marathon, thinking I’d be able to stick to a rigorous training schedule and actually

So we officially have two months left in 2010.  What have you done this year? When the year started if you were like most people you had some sort of grandiose plans for the coming 12 months that could have ranged from “exercise at least one time” to “achieve world domination”. For most, your plans were somewhere in between. The disappointing thing is that after around January 10th, most people forget all about their goals and go about living the same lives they lived the prior year. For me personally, there has definitely been some good and bad, but overall I’ve probably accomplished more in 2010 than any year that came before it. This year I’ve traveled all over Southeast

Greetings from the Big Apple! I should be landing in NYC right as this post goes live, and will officially be crossing #37 off of my bucket list.  I’ve been trying to plan a trip to New York for the better part of three years, and whether it was lack of vacation time, money, or free time, it just never materialized – until now. Over the next two weeks I’ll be hanging out with friends in Philadelphia, Boston, and NYC while taking in all that the Northeast has to offer.  That said, if you are in any of those places be sure to shoot me an email if you want to meet up! Also, another bucket list item that I

“A bucket list can be your best friend or your worst enemy.” Did you ever watch Wheel of Fortune when you were younger (or perhaps you still do)?  Every once in awhile they would have categories called “Before and After”, well here is my bucket list before and after. The Before: Bucket List. My Bucket List has been pretty much the one thing about this site that has remained fairly constant since the beginning.  Sure about 6 months back I did a bit of a remodel of it, but if there has been one thing that Location 180 has been known for, it’s this list.  I’ve received emails from numerous readers and other bloggers saying that they’ve been inspired to

Wow, this has been a long week.  It is quarterly report time at my job, and as usually happens every three months, I am swamped.  With that being said, it is amazing this post made it out on time (this is an assumption, it is 5:30 on Wednesday and I am still not sure if I will be able to finish it tonight).  So, if you are reading this on Thursday morning, feel free to congratulate me, as I wasn’t sure if this one was going to meet the deadline! UPDATE: It is now Sunday afternoon, and I am still putting the final touches on The Bucket List 2.0 and this post. So much for Thursday morning, congratulations are definitely

So the time has come for me to do my first video blog.  On my recent trip where my friend Brian and I summited the third highest peak in Oregon, we took a lot of video.  The result is my first attempt at any sort of  video editing since I took a multimedia class in 8th grade.  I just ask that you be patient with my amateur attempt at cinematography!  I would also ask that you will forgive the wind noise from the last few scenes, as I couldn’t get the noise reduction filters to work properly. Another thing I realized while I was editing this, was that I spent a lot of time whining on this hike.  It really

I realize that I just wrote a post about accomplishing #16 on my list, but I felt this one deserved a mention even though I really did it for the first time a few years back.  The Gorge Amphitheater in George, Washington is one of the most  beautiful places I have ever been.  The venue holds about 25,000 people and the stage is set directly above the Columbia River. For as long as I can remember I have had friends that would drive up there on Labor Day weekend to camp and see Dave Matthews Band who plays shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.  Each year I always had to work and was unable to go.  Two years ago,
