I have continued to surprise myself each month, as I never think I will be able to outdo the previous month in terms of both traffic and content. Well November was no exception, and was by a long shot, the biggest month we have ever had at Location180! Looking back I have realized that while October was a month of great change and reflection, November has proved to be a month entirely focused on looking to the future, and that is pretty exciting for me. From a site growth perspective, the biggest thing that happened this month was my guest post over at Get Rich Slowly. Budgeting for a Lifestyle Change, was well received for the most part, but I

Well just when I think things can’t get any more exciting at Location180, I seem to outdo myself. While September was full of stories about me crossing things off my list, October has been a month of significant change. Honestly, my life changed more last month than any in recent memory. So let’s start with the obvious. October 20th was my last day at my job. If you have been a regular reader here, you could probably sense that I wasn’t entirely happy with my employment situation. While it didn’t happen in the way I expected it to, it was really only a matter of time. Thank you to everyone that contributed to the 50+ comments and showed me more

All week I had plans to launch a big update to one section of the website. It was supposed to go up Thursday morning, but life got in the way, and it just wasn’t quite complete. Alright, thats cool, it’ll go up Friday. Well after a few hours of work last night, I realized it just wasn’t going to be where I would like it to be in time for a Friday release, so it is getting pushed back til next week. With that said, I felt really guilty about not getting a second post up this week. I think that is when you realize how serious you are about your blog: when you are genuinely stressed and bothered about

Over the last several months we’ve witnessed the organic development of a community. Lifestyle designers, artists, entrepreneurs, freelancers and travelers from the United States, England, Australia, India, Thailand, Japan — literally all over the world — coming together to reject the status quo and live out what others had told them couldn’t or shouldn’t be lived. None of us planned for this. Most of us fell into it. Here is a community of people who think as we do, who aspire to be what we aspire to be. People we can commiserate with, learn with, grow with, and most importantly, succeed with. Here we have potential business partners, mentors… and friends. We’ve all gotten to know each other quite accidentally, whether it was from a comment on a blog, a

So before I even had a chance to realize it, two months have gone by and I haven’t written a site update. So, here is one covering the last two months. It is amazing how much has happened over that time, both in my life and with Location180. I guess the most obvious change is the fact that this blog is now known as Location 180. I decided to follow the route of Chris Guillebeau and keep the domain as my name, but now when people are referring to the site, they have something a little bit easier to remember. It also gave me a good chance to brush up on my Illustrator skills and create a new logo. Along

Since I began this site at the beginning of May, this is the longest I have gone without posting. I am not happy about this. I did however have a GREAT time (I use the term great, very loosely) helping my dad reroof/reside our old house in 90 degree weather for the entirety of my holiday weekend. With that being said, I think now would be a good time to take a look at everything that was accomplished in June, as well as take a look forward and see what July has in store. We covered a lot of ground last month, quite a bit more than I expected to be honest with you. In the beginning of the month,

I recently did a guest post for Derek over at Live Uncomfortably called Gorgeous Girls, Fast Boat, French Riviera. If you haven’t read it, you can find it here. If you are new to my site thank you for checking it out! It is still a work in progress, but I am really excited about the direction it is heading. Take a look around, some of the posts I would recommend looking at first are: -Backpacking Through Europe – Without the Backpack -Create Your Own College Education -The List (My list of things I wish to accomplish during my lifetime) If you havent been to Live Uncomfortably, go RIGHT NOW. Derek is a great writer and has some awesome stories to tell. He

Wow, so my first month as a blogger has officially come to a close. At the end of every month I am going to try and recap everything that I have discussed, as well as give you an idea of what to look for in the future. I have been surprised at how much I really do enjoy writing and working on this blog. I have met a ton of great people through the process, and I continue to meet more every day. Obviously this whole project is still a work in progress, as evidenced by my lack of a clear niche or direction, and some other aspects of the site that are still only partially completed. However, I feel

Now that I have finally figured out my RSS feed problem, its time to actually start posting all of these articles I have written. With that in mind, I feel like now is an appropriate time to outline some of the goals for the site. It seems like on every blogger’s list of “steps to a successful blog” one of the first is to have clearly outlined your niche and goals for the site. This is the one big area where I will admit, I haven’t followed their advice. This is for a variety of reasons, but the main one is, I am not entirely sure what my goal is! Alright, I know that more than just about anything, I

Well, everything must have a beginning right? This is mine. My name is Sean and this is a blog. It has taken a long time to get to this point. Numerous false starts and topical tangents that never quite panned out have plagued the beginning to this blog. So I decided the best way to start…is to just start. I am not really sure where this path will lead. There are so many things I wish to write about, it will be difficult to make this structured in a way that can provide some real value to you. Although, I feel I am up to the challenge. Times are tough, nobody is denying that. While the economy is currently showing
