At the end of last year I couldn’t help but think 2010 was the best year of my life.  Goals were accomplished that I never thought possible, and the trajectory of my life shifted drastically. Now as we near the end of 2011, I’m amazed to realize that this year has been even better. We’ll do a full recap of everything that’s happened next month, but at the moment I just wanted to write a few very brief thoughts on gratitude. Having the privilege to the things I do really has very little to do with me; it’s everyone that surrounds me that makes this life possible. Life is not lived in a vacuum.  The things you do have a

Well if you haven’t figured it out by now, we have a new look here at Location 180.  For well over a year I’ve been wanting to redesign the site, and get something more flexible and much more fitting of the brand and what it stands for. Well today is the day it finally happened. I’ve been telling people for months that I’ve done a great job of building authority and having a good story to tell.  However the fact remains that even after over 215 posts, when you first show up on the site, you have no idea what the hell it’s about.  What’s a Location 180? Who are you? What do you do? None of those questions were

What a difference two years makes… This past Sunday marked the two year anniversary of the very first post on Location 180.  To think of everything that has happened since I began this journey, completely blows me away. This past year has easily been the most exciting, fulfilling, and awesome I’ve ever had. However, more importantly, I feel like its just setting the stage for what’s to come.  Bigger businesses, more travel, and inspiring more people to pursue a life that they can get excited about. That said, the goal of this post is two fold.  The first is to give a resounding thank you to YOU.  If it weren’t for the encouragement that I’ve received from this community over the

I still remember sitting on my mom’s couch writing my Thanksgiving post last year.  The house has changed, but the message stays the same: I’ve got a lot to be thankful for. A year ago I was preparing for my adventure to Thailand, and in the back of my mind thought the adventure may end up being short lived. I’d go out there, have an extended vacation and come back and get a real job. Holy crap, was I wrong. I sit here now a year later continuing to work with incredible business partners, running a business of my own, and more importantly, doing it from anywhere in the world that I please. This past week I’ve been putting the

If you’re coming over from my recent post, How to Live Like a Millionaire on Pennies on Get Rich Slowly, thank you!  It’s an honor to write on such a well written and well established site. I understand that many of you are going to have differing opinions on the whole “lifestyle design” movement.  At times I hesitate to define my site as such, but lets face it, the idea of designing your dream lifestyle is a pretty core component to what I write about. At Location 180 you will find concepts varying from entrepreneurship and business, to travel, and also some encouraging words to help you tackle the fears and uncertainty in your life. If this is your first

Greetings from the Big Apple! I should be landing in NYC right as this post goes live, and will officially be crossing #37 off of my bucket list.  I’ve been trying to plan a trip to New York for the better part of three years, and whether it was lack of vacation time, money, or free time, it just never materialized – until now. Over the next two weeks I’ll be hanging out with friends in Philadelphia, Boston, and NYC while taking in all that the Northeast has to offer.  That said, if you are in any of those places be sure to shoot me an email if you want to meet up! Also, another bucket list item that I

I am probably 37,000 feet up by the time you read this, so I will approve any comments and respond as soon as I land! Over the past 9 or so months I’ve been incredibly selfish. Now, I’m not saying I’ve done anything wrong, or that looking back I should have done anything differently, but the fact of the matter is that I’ve been focused only for what is best for me, with little regard for those around me. That said, just about everyone around me has been incredibly supportive of everything I’ve been doing.  Even my family and close friends who have been affected the most by me quitting my job and moving to a foreign country for half

To say the last few weeks have been interesting would be one hell of an understatement. I’d like to first off apologize for the lack of relevant updates over the last couple weeks, as my life has been thrown into a bit of upheaval due to a variety of things.  However, I’m going to try and recap as best I can, and then get us back to the regularly scheduled programming here in the next few days. So where to begin, ah, well how about the bullets whizzing by my ear about a week and a half ago.  Seems to be as good a place as any.  As most of you know, Thailand has been experiencing a bit of civil

It’s amazing how quickly the last few weeks have flown by.  I leave for Thailand in 5 days, and it still hasn’t quite sunk in yet.  With that being said, I’m quickly realizing how much needs to be done and how many people I would like to see before my departure. There are multiple posts that I’d planned to have completed before I left, however the unfortunate reality is that with everything that needs to be done, I just haven’t been able to spend the time to write a second high quality entry for this week. My goal is to write two or three posts during my nearly 48 hours of travel time next week.  I plan to do a

So as you, the reader, are the most important part of the success I have seen on this blog, I wanted to take a moment to reflect upon your finest moments.  I have received hundreds of comments on my posts, and those are hundreds more than I ever expected to receive.  I got the inspiration for this from a post that Corbett Barr wrote a while back called “10 Favorite Quotes From Readers (And Why You Should De-Lurk).” I think the more I can integrate the readers into the writing and what I am doing, the more useful and exciting it is for everyone. I also wanted to quickly take the opportunity to revisit some goals that I set in
