Thankful

I am probably 37,000 feet up by the time you read this, so I will approve any comments and respond as soon as I land!

Over the past 9 or so months I’ve been incredibly selfish.
Now, I’m not saying I’ve done anything wrong, or that looking back I should have done anything differently, but the fact of the matter is that I’ve been focused only for what is best for me, with little regard for those around me.
That said, just about everyone around me has been incredibly supportive of everything I’ve …

Deadly Riots, Tropical Paradise, and One Very Dingy City

To say the last few weeks have been interesting would be one hell of an understatement.
I’d like to first off apologize for the lack of relevant updates over the last couple weeks, as my life has been thrown into a bit of upheaval due to a variety of things.  However, I’m going to try and recap as best I can, and then get us back to the regularly scheduled programming here in the next few days.
So where to begin, ah, well how about the bullets whizzing by my ear about …

Happy New Year!

It’s amazing how quickly the last few weeks have flown by.  I leave for Thailand in 5 days, and it still hasn’t quite sunk in yet.  With that being said, I’m quickly realizing how much needs to be done and how many people I would like to see before my departure.
There are multiple posts that I’d planned to have completed before I left, however the unfortunate reality is that with everything that needs to be done, I just haven’t been able to spend the time to write a second high …

Top 10 Reader Comments of 2009

So as you, the reader, are the most important part of the success I have seen on this blog, I wanted to take a moment to reflect upon your finest moments.  I have received hundreds of comments on my posts, and those are hundreds more than I ever expected to receive.  I got the inspiration for this from a post that Corbett Barr wrote a while back called “10 Favorite Quotes From Readers (And Why You Should De-Lurk).” I think the more I can integrate the readers into the …

Location 180 November Site Update

I have continued to surprise myself each month, as I never think I will be able to outdo the previous month in terms of both traffic and content.  Well November was no exception, and was by a long shot, the biggest month we have ever had at Location180!
Looking back I have realized that while October was a month of great change and reflection, November has proved to be a month entirely focused on looking to the future, and that is pretty exciting for me.
From a site growth perspective, the biggest …

Location180 October Site Update

Well just when I think things can’t get any more exciting at Location180, I seem to outdo myself.
While September was full of stories about me crossing things off my list, October has been a month of significant change.  Honestly, my life changed more last month than any in recent memory.
So let’s start with the obvious.  October 20th was my last day at my job.  If you have been a regular reader here, you could probably sense that I wasn’t entirely happy with my employment situation.  While it didn’t happen in …

So Close, But Not Quite: Location 180 September Update

All week I had plans to launch a big update to one section of the website.  It was supposed to go up Thursday morning, but life got in the way, and it just wasn’t quite complete.  Alright, thats cool, it’ll go up Friday.  Well after a few hours of work last night, I realized it just wasn’t going to be where I would like it to be in time for a Friday release, so it is getting pushed back til next week.
With that said, I felt really guilty about not …

Introducing Location Rebel

Over the last several months we’ve witnessed the organic development of a community. Lifestyle designers, artists, entrepreneurs, freelancers and travelers from the United States, England, Australia, India, Thailand, Japan — literally all over the world — coming together to reject the status quo and live out what others had told them couldn’t or shouldn’t be lived.
None of us planned for this. Most of us fell into it. Here is a community of people who think as we do, who aspire to be what we aspire to be. People we can commiserate with, learn with, grow with, and most …

Location 180 Site Update July/August

So before I even had a chance to realize it, two months have gone by and I haven’t written a site update.  So, here is one covering the last two months.  It is amazing how much has happened over that time, both in my life and with Location180.
I guess the most obvious change is the fact that this blog is now known as Location 180.  I decided to follow the route of Chris Guillebeau and keep the domain as my name, but now when people are referring to the site, …

Site Update: June 2009

Since I began this site at the beginning of May, this is the longest I have gone without posting. I am not happy about this. I did however have a GREAT time (I use the term great, very loosely) helping my dad reroof/reside our old house in 90 degree weather for the entirety of my holiday weekend. With that being said, I think now would be a good time to take a look at everything that was accomplished in June, as well as take a look forward and see what …
