The view from our condo in Playa del Carmen, Mexico where I’ll be until next week. This last week I’ve been quite literally almost completely without internet, so I apologize for the delay in this post.  It’s been a great week and a nice break from reality. I’ll update you much more on that when I’m back in the States, but today I want to talk about big decisions. Every so often in each of our lives we have to face a big decision.  Not like a “should I buy a new car or a used one” decision, but rather choices that completely dictate the trajectory of your life. These are the scariest, yet the most important decisions you’ll ever

This week, almost without exception, I’ve done no work. I used to say the word vacation was dead to me, because no matter where I went I would always be spending a few hours a day working. I expected this trip to be no different.  There are 11 entrepreneurs hanging out here in Mexico, all with laptops, and I expected everyone to spend at least half of their days working. The reality has been the exact opposite. We’ve spent the last three days doing nothing but playing.  I’ve played more over the last few days than at any other period in my adult life. What does that look like?  Daily dodgeball tournaments,  trampoline jumping sessions, zipline gauntlet, turning our mini

You’ve hear it from lifestyle entrepreneurs all the time: you’ve gotta learn to be uncomfortable. I say it myself, because there’s a lot of truth in it.  Change is hard, and there are going to be times where it’s extremely uncomfortable.  Quitting your job is uncomfortable, so is paying off debt, the same with moving to a new place, or starting something new that you know nothing about. However all of that doesn’t have to last, and even when you’re in a transitional phase, you should strive to add certain elements of comfort to your life.  If you don’t then oftentimes life can get to unbearable, and you’ll fall back into your traditional comfortable routines. How I’m Comfortably Uncomfortable So

Greetings from Breckenridge, Colorado! Over the past few days I’ve been hanging out with friends in Boulder, Vail and Breckenridge and was finally able to cross another item off the ole’ bucket list: Ski at Vail. The snow left a little (or a lot) to be desired on this go around, but nonetheless I’ve had a fantastic time. Over the past month I’ve done a lot of reflection and planning.  I’ve looked at some things I’ve done well, not so well, as well as reflected on some of my travel for the past year. The final part of this reflection is to look forward and to create some public goals to help aid in my accountability. One of the primary

While I was at World Domination Summit this past June, I dubbed 2011 “the year of confidence“. What does that mean? Essentially I realized that for me to be successful accomplishing my goals, and helping others do the same thing, I was going to need to be fully confident in my ability to make those things happen. Whether it’s being able to help someone quit their job, start a business, or start checking off their own bucket list goals, I had to be confident. These days I’m feeling pretty good about my ability to do all of those things, so it’s on to the next piece of the puzzle: The Year of Discipline Confidence will only take you so far

Hanging out at New Kuta Golf Course in Bali, Indonesia Man how modest do I sound with a headline like that?? The reality is, this is the third post in a series of reflections about the year of 2011, what went well, what didn’t, and what I need to do to move forward in the future. The first post looked at the 10 Coolest Offices I Had in 2011, while the most recent one looked not only at some of the things I could have done better at, but also identified people who already were killing it in the areas that I was lacking. Today we are looking at some areas in my life and business where I found some

I have a confession: I haven’t opened up my Google Reader in close to a year and a half. Yeah, I’m one of those bloggers. You know the one that writes a blog, but rarely reads them.  Actually, most of the more successful bloggers I know fall into this category, but that’s another topic for another time. Since I recently picked up a Kindle Fire, I wanted a way to read interesting content on the go.  I figured what better way than to add a few of the blogs I do read into an RSS app, and then check it out whenever I have a few minutes. Upon opening up my RSS reader, I was shocked at what I found.

Magic Makers. Every. Singe. One. Of. Them. Have ever known someone who could make magic happen? I’m not talking about rabbits and hats here, but rather the type of person who seems to make the impossible happen on a regular basis. I used to know maybe one or two, but these days it seems like half the people around me are magic makers. Thats the beauty of the time we live in, it’s easier than ever to make incredible things happen. The combination of technology and increased connectivity make it so that no one is untouchable.  If you want to get Jay-Z’s attention, you can do it. So what exactly does a magic maker look like? Rather than tell you,

This is a post that I’ve thought about writing for months, and I think it has the potential to be the most beneficial post I’ve ever written at Location 180. That said, I expect it to be useful to about 10% of you, and for those 10% it will be life changing. As for the other 90%, there are two things that might happen: You’ll dismiss everything I say completely, think I’m a quack and move on You’ll find some credence in what I discuss, but do nothing actionable about it (which has the same end result as the previous bullet point) It’s taken me a long time to actually sit down and write this post, but I’ve realized lately

Well after 2 months in Bali, I’m back in the U.S. and have definitely felt the pains of re-acclimation. Whether it was the overnight layover in SFO or my body not being able to keep up with the changes, it’s been slow going this weekend. That said, I’m doing much better now and ready to get back to it.  Expect much more to come soon It’s as simple as that, and the title says it all: Life is simply about getting people to say yes. Will you marry me? Can I have a job? Subscribe to my blog? Buy my product? Whether it’s the biggest questions you ever ask, or the littlest things that you may or may not overtly ask
