Whether it’s actually any easier to make a change on January 1st, there is a mental shift that occurs when a new year hits. Everyone around you is motivated to diet, exercise and generally be a better person than they were the year prior. The fact of the matter is, most people who make new years resolutions will stick to them for about a week – if that. You get busy, and realize that your hour long daily exercise routine is more trouble than your willing to spend. I came to this realization a month ago when I tried to do the P90x program. I lasted a week. Now that’s pathetic. Steve Kamb would be ashamed. I tell myself this

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas – I know I did – as evidenced by my lack of posts over the last week. That said, I’ve been hard at work finishing my first ebook for Daily HDR: Make Your Photos Not Suck: 50 Tips to Improve Your HDR Photography. There will be much more information on that early in the new year, but as I’ve been putting the book together, I’ve come to one very big realization: I’ve been to a lot of cool places this year. When the year started I knew I’d be going to Thailand, but I had no idea how many other cool spots that I’d end up seeing as a result of leaving

For the last year and a half I’ve been talking to you about everything from overcoming fear, business building, travel, you name it. You guys know a ton about my life story, my accomplishments and where I’m headed in the future. But how much do you really know about me? Some, but you could always stand to know more. What makes me tick? What are my biggest strengths, insecurities, hidden talents etc? Well now is the day I reveal some of those to you. Here are 26 things you probably didn’t know about me, and maybe never wanted to. I can ride a unicycle. Not only can I ride a unicycle, but I can ride one that’s six feet tall.

How often do you say yes? No really, think about that. If a friend calls you to hang out, do you usually oblige or make an excuse for why the couch and a Dominos pizza sounds better? If a Twitter follower of yours who you’ve never heard of wants to have a Skype conversation or go for a beer, do you go for it? Every once in awhile I find myself falling into the no zone. The no zone is when you think you’re too busy, lazy or a combination of both to open yourself up to the opportunities that present themselves to you in life. The no zone sucks. Its a terrible place to be, and if you’re there

Never Get a Real Job with Scott Gerber from Sean Ogle on Vimeo. Earlier this week we discussed credibility, and before that the topic was people that weren’t such a fan of the location independent lifestyle. Today I wanted to bring in someone who is extremely credible, and is one of the most influential entrepreneurs out there, Scott Gerber. Scott is one of the most widely read 20 something entrepreneurs having columns in periodicals like Entpreneur, and Inc. magazines. Not only that, but he is also the founder of the Young Entrepreneur Council and author of the new book Never Get a “Real” Job. After getting about 3/4 of the way through this book, I’ve come to a realization. The

There are a lot of people on the internet these days, who are saying a lot of things. Often times, the tough part can be figuring out who to pay attention to. We live in a world where everyone can have a voice. Many of those voices speak louder than others, and just because they’re speaking up, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the ones you should be listening to. I’d like to add a note that this post is directed at no one in particular, it’s just based off of random comments I’ve seen and an interesting discussion that developed in my last post “Most People Hate Location Independence”. There are thousands of bloggers out there who think they have

I’ve got news for you. Not everyone is going to love your super-cool, new, awesome location independent lifestyle. In fact I’d go as far as to say the majority aren’t going to like it at all. Let’s face it, as you continue to build your dream life, there are going to be times where you’re totally stoked. When you make your first $1 online or have your first $1,000 month, you’re going to want to tell anyone and everyone. It’s liberating – and something to be extremely proud of. I’ve been doing this for awhile now, and still reach milestones on a regular basis in which I want to tell everyone around me. That said, most people don’t care. And

I still remember sitting on my mom’s couch writing my Thanksgiving post last year. The house has changed, but the message stays the same: I’ve got a lot to be thankful for. A year ago I was preparing for my adventure to Thailand, and in the back of my mind thought the adventure may end up being short lived. I’d go out there, have an extended vacation and come back and get a real job. Holy crap, was I wrong. I sit here now a year later continuing to work with incredible business partners, running a business of my own, and more importantly, doing it from anywhere in the world that I please. This past week I’ve been putting the

Let’s face it, winter will soon be upon us, and it’s already getting cold. Or at least it is here in Portland. While personally I’m pretty pumped to get some ski days in this year, that doesn’t mean I’m not going to be a bit of a Snowbird here in the next few months and try and spend a little time some place warm. Part of the beauty of location independence is being able to leave the cold and rain behind whenever it becomes too much and go some place warmer, and more importantly, cheaper. For those of you who are looking for a good place to sit on a beach and get some work done in the process, here
