It’s been about five months since I left my job. In that time I’ve experienced just about every emotion possible, and over the last few weeks I’ve come to one very important realization. For the past few weeks I’ve been doing something I have never really had to do before: commute. You might be wondering how I could possibly have a commute when I can roll out of bed and work in my boxers all day. I’ve found it extremely important to find a workspace outside of my home if I have any hope of being productive. It is a pretty wild concept for me. Over the past month of living in Thailand, I’ve learned something very important about myself: I am very easily persuaded. Now this could be perceived as either a good thing or a bad thing, and in the context which I am referring to it, its both. I was recently at the TEDx Bangkok conference, and one of the presenters kept referring to the “real world” and the “online world” as if they were separate things. Listening to her talk it kind of hit me, that we have come so far that these are no longer separate worlds, and we should stop treating them as such. These days nearly 50% of my waking hours are probably spent online. Now that is kind of a sad realization, but when it all comes down to it, that’s the truth. I’m sure that a lot of you out there have thought at some point about taking a trip to Thailand. I mean why wouldn’t you want to? Its affordable, beautiful, and the local people are some of the friendliest you will meet anywhere. However, if you were anything like me, trying to sort out where to go was no easy task. I’ve got a confession to make: time management has never really been my forte. I tend to be a bit of a procrastinator and when I start ramping up on one project, many of the others often fall to the wayside.
