In life, the enormity of your success or the depths of your failure rely entirely on the consequences you establish for yourself. If you set your life up in a way where consequences, both good and bad, are at the forefront of everything you do, you will be much more likely achieve your goals than if you don’t. Think about the time you worked the hardest in your life. A time when you spent hours and hours working on something, and never thought twice about quitting or doing something else. That was also the time when you had the most at stake wasn’t it? During my last term of college I had one class that I really struggled in, but

Yeah, I’m talking to you. The guy (or girl) sitting in your comfy office, with your sexy 401k plan and that fat raise you’ll be getting in July now that the economy is picking up again. Perhaps from time to time you’ve thought about how great it would be to be working from a beach on a Tahitian island? Maybe you just want to sit at home in nothing but your boxers and spend a whole day without having to shower. Yeah, you aren’t cut out for this life. While working from your laptop on a beach with a cute little umbrella drink in hand, may seem like a dream come true, did you stop to think about the heat

Let’s face it, making money from your blog is no easy task, and takes hours and hours of hard work. Over the past year I’ve considered ways to monetize this site, however my primary goal is to not let that interfere with providing high quality and useful content. So far I’ve made a little bit, perhaps enough to cover my hosting costs, but nowhere near enough to support myself full time. However, there are people out there who have done a much better job of utilizing affiliate adds, product creation or a combination of both to live AWESOME lifestyles. While I’m still unsure exactly which direction I will eventually head (although there is a thinly veiled attempt in this post),

I’ve had a few requests over the last week from people who are curious about my interactions with Thai people while living over here. I haven’t written about this as much as I would’ve liked for a few reasons. Partially for the trivial reason of I have no idea how to spell half of the things I’d like to write about, but also because my interactions have been *fairly* limited. This isn’t necessarily by choice. With the language barrier being as difficult as it is, especially as a non-Latin language, you really have three choices for how to proceed. The first is to try to avoid the interactions altogether. I’ve met a surprising amount of people who’ve been living here for months,

Lately I’ve been trying to make more of effort to take my camera out of its bag and explore some of the more photogenic spots that Bangkok has to offer. Because of this you may see me post a few photos from time to time. Many of you are MUCH better photographers than I am, so I fully welcome any critiques or thoughts! Also let me know if you like the random photo posts, as it is a new thing for Location 180. Also forgive me, I will come up with a better way of displaying photos soon… If you enjoyed this post be sure to sign up for my email updates and RSS Feed.

The whole purpose of having a blog, a Facebook profile, Twitter feed etc. is to be able to communicate with others. Whether that is sharing your ideas, opening your mind to other’s thoughts, networking, dating whatever it is, the whole point of social networking is to be social. But have you ever gone through a period of time where you just didn’t feel like being social? Whether in the online world or real world, maybe there has been a period of time where you were wrapped up in other things and just haven’t devoted the time and energy (and lets be honest, it takes both) to have much of a social life. I feel like thats where I’ve been lately in a

I generally try to stay away from writing about politics and the like. There are a lot of people out there that can do it much better than I can, but in this case I am making an exception, as the situation in Bangkok took a turn for the worst yesterday. Well life in Bangkok continues to be interesting, and today was no exception. As I’ve been saying for the past week, I’ve been trying to make it out to Khao San Road to try and find a cheap guitar. Well today was the day I finally decided to make the journey. What I hadn’t anticipated was the fact that today was the breaking point for the Red Shirt protests

Let us back up for just a moment to two weeks ago, when my sister came to visit. She was very excited to see all of the sites and experience all that Bangkok and the southern islands had to offer. Of course, this means the infamous fire shows on Phi Phi. Me, practically being a veteran now, was more than happy to take her and show her the ropes during our one night stay on the island. After all, I had done the fire jump rope, flaming limbo, and various other pyro activities numerous times during my stay here, so I figured I was immune to the potential dangers of it. Well, I’m a dumbass. After polishing off a bucket

I will apologize in advance, this post is a little more personal, as I have found myself doing a lot of reflecting this weekend. On Sunday I turned a quarter of a century old, and today marks the day that I’ve been traveling for three months. So if this doesn’t interest you at all, feel free to move on, and I will have something more relevant for you later this week! Today I’m able to officially cross #44 off my Bucket List: Travel for 3 Months Straight. While I may not have been traveling for much of this time, the spirit of the goal was basically to be out of the country for an extended period of time. As this

This is a post that has been a long time coming. Many of you that have been following me since the days of daydreaming and remote work proposals keep asking me the question “what exactly are you doing to support yourself in Asia?”. Today is the day I answer that question. Well, kind of. I will tell you up front I’m not going to go into detail or the specifics about the businesses that I’m working in. However, you will find out about the skills I’ve learned and find necessary to achieve this lifestyle, what my income is really like and how that relates to my expenses, what my plans are for the future (or what little I have), and
