I’ve officially been location independent for going on ten months now.  When I first started Dan Andrews told me something.  He said, I wake up every single morning, from wherever I am in the world and I think to myself “This never gets any less awesome.” Thats a pretty powerful thing to think about. In my finance job, for about 6 months I would wake up and think about how awesome my job was and how lucky I was to be in such a position.  If you were to ask me during that initial 6 months if I thought I would always feel that way about my job, I would have said of course, this is great! Well we all

So what do you do when you’re in New York City, on the most beautiful day imaginable (most likely one of the last of the season), and have an afternoon to kill? Well if you’re me, you decide to create your own pub crawl! A couple Tuesday’s ago (yes Tuesday, I love my lifestyle), I met up with my friend Kimberly and since I hadn’t had the opportunity to explore many of the neighborhoods of Manhattan, she thought it would be a great idea to take me on a drinking tour of the city. Thus began The New York City Highline Pub Crawl. We tried to come up with a better name for it considering none of these destinations can

Everyone has something they that say they are going to do sometime during their life. I’ve got about a 100 of them on my bucket list. I’ve learned over the past few years, that for all of those “somedays” unless you make a conscious decision to work towards those goals, the vast majority of them will never be experienced. Think about the last ten years of your life.  How many times have you said out loud or thought to your self “Someday I’ll do that” or “I’ll do that when I have more time and/or money”.  Now, for all the times you’ve said that, how many of those items have you actually made any type of progress towards achieving?  I’m

Location 180 (and Friends) in Boston from Alan Perlman on Vimeo. So the final leg of the first half of my Jet Blue trip has taken me to Boston.  Boston was a little bit different than the other destinations in the sense that, it is the only place on the journey where I’d never met anyone in person. Alan Perlman of the 9 to 5 Alternative (not the alternative 9 to 5 as I mention in the video) has been the best host I could have ever asked for, giving me a couch to crash on and showing me all of what Boston has to offer. Between the Freedom Trail, Fenway Park and the Harvard campus, it’s been pretty cool

Last Thursday I arrived at JFK International in NYC having absolutely no idea what to expect. Well, my first impressions of New York have me thinking, “it really is as big as everyone has said it is.”  However, up to this point I’ve only spent about 4 hours in the city, as almost immediately after arriving I hopped a bus up to Philadelphia to visit my good friend David Walsh. The North East has been treating me really well so far, and if I were to sum up the trip to this point, it would be “right place, right time.” It’s not like anything extremely dramatic has happened.  No I’ve not won the lottery or any all inclusive trips to

Greetings from the Big Apple! I should be landing in NYC right as this post goes live, and will officially be crossing #37 off of my bucket list.  I’ve been trying to plan a trip to New York for the better part of three years, and whether it was lack of vacation time, money, or free time, it just never materialized – until now. Over the next two weeks I’ll be hanging out with friends in Philadelphia, Boston, and NYC while taking in all that the Northeast has to offer.  That said, if you are in any of those places be sure to shoot me an email if you want to meet up! Also, another bucket list item that I

I decided to post this article because I believe these four things are absolutely essential to succeeding in creating a unique lifestyle.  It isn’t hard to do, its just a matter of overcoming the uncertainties that you’ve been trained to build up in your mind.  Stay tuned for a big update from New York City on Thursday! The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. – Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture Jetting from Bali to Thailand to Portland sounds terrific, but in reality it’s a

How many times in your life have you been envious of someone else.  Maybe it was the star quarterback in high school.  Maybe you were totally jealous of the girl next to you who could pull straight A’s without even trying.  However it is you’ve done it, everyone has compared themselves to someone else at some point in their lives.  The chances are you do it on a regular basis and don’t even realize it. When I was younger I played competitive tennis.  I mean we’re talking three hours every day after school and tournaments on the weekends.  Through high school it was a huge part of my life.  I think that’s when I started to realize the effects that
