For the longest time in my life, I’ve struggled with finding balance.  I was always the guy that would get ridiculously excited about something and then let my world revolve around it until I lose interest.  This has happened with everything from golf and rock climbing (which I usually get reinvigorated on about once a year) to business start up ideas.  Oh the business ideas. I could go on for days with things that I was convinced would be the best businesses ever, only to lose interest a week later. The point here is that rather than staying level headed and continuing to live a balanced life amidst the new found obsessions, I’d let them dictate how my life went.

I’ve learned more about myself in the last 6 months than I think I have in the previous 6 years. There is no denying that since I began publishing at Location 180 I’ve acquired a ton of new skills that I didn’t previously have.  There are the technical skills such as basic html, WordPress and a bunch of SEO knowledge which have transferred great to the business side of my life.  Along with that I’ve greatly improved my writing and general communication skills. However it’s the less tangible feelings that I think will stick with me most.  The feeling of moving to a foreign country with no set plans for the future.  Knowing what it’s like to make your first

To say the last few weeks have been interesting would be one hell of an understatement. I’d like to first off apologize for the lack of relevant updates over the last couple weeks, as my life has been thrown into a bit of upheaval due to a variety of things.  However, I’m going to try and recap as best I can, and then get us back to the regularly scheduled programming here in the next few days. So where to begin, ah, well how about the bullets whizzing by my ear about a week and a half ago.  Seems to be as good a place as any.  As most of you know, Thailand has been experiencing a bit of civil

8N68G5VD5PCZ Before I go into my post for today, I would like to make a quick public service announcement.  I was going to write a post entitled “Bangkok Dangerous” – however, out of respect for those who are concerned for me (mom, I’m looking at you) I will refrain until I am either out of the country or things return to normal here. That said, I want you all to know that I am completely safe and appreciate your messages of concern. Check out the Empire Building Kit and to learn how you can create the business you have always wanted. As most of you that have been reading Location 180 for awhile know, I have a tremendous amount of

Working for yourself, or on a remote basis isn’t easy. Actually it’s really difficult.  When you work in an office, you know you have a set time you have to show up.  If you aren’t on time, there are consequences. If you don’t work for a day, people will notice.  There is a basic structure to your life, and that is one reason why so many people would never consider anything other than a 9-5.  It can make it much easier and less stressful to manage your life. One of the things that I’ve learned from working remotely/for myself is that there is no one here to hold my hand.  Results and success (or lack thereof) fall back directly on

Let me tell you a little story.  Last night I went out to one of the fanciest bars in Bangkok.  It is supposed to have some of the best cocktails in town and is known as one of the premiere jazz venues in all of Asia.  I had a great time, and the bar was exactly what I ‘d hoped it would be.  Although for as much as I enjoyed the music and atmosphere, I had one (amazing) drink and it cost me $10.  I’m not sure I’ve ever spent that much on a single drink in my life, and I certainly don’t want to do it again any time soon. That said, on a fairly regular basis I will spend $4-5

Dear Reader, Today marks the official one year anniversary of Location 180.  Wow. It kind of snuck up on me, much the way that Cinco de Mayo, St. Patrick’s Day, the Super Bowl and every other big American event that no one cares about here has. But in all seriousness, the last year has without a doubt been the most profound I’ve ever had.  For the first time in my life, not only did I outline a path that I wanted to follow, but I acted on this plan in some extremely rewarding and terrifying ways. Looking back, I can safely say it has been completely worth it. This past year has been all about my transformation.  If you were

“A bucket list can be your best friend or your worst enemy.” Did you ever watch Wheel of Fortune when you were younger (or perhaps you still do)?  Every once in awhile they would have categories called “Before and After”, well here is my bucket list before and after. The Before: Bucket List. My Bucket List has been pretty much the one thing about this site that has remained fairly constant since the beginning.  Sure about 6 months back I did a bit of a remodel of it, but if there has been one thing that Location 180 has been known for, it’s this list.  I’ve received emails from numerous readers and other bloggers saying that they’ve been inspired to
